Program History

  • February 8, 2018: Medford City Council approves moving forward with electricity aggregation

  • August 2018: Public comment and review period on the Medford electricity aggregation plan takes place

  • August 27, 2018: Medford CEA Program’s plan, which explains how the Program will work, is approved by the Medford City Council. The plan is subsequently submitted to the Department of Public Utilities for approval.

  • September 30, 2019: The Department of Public Utilities approves the Medford Community Electricity Aggregation Program plan in Docket #18-106.

  • October 10, 2019: Customer Notification Letters mailed to all electricity customers in Medford who are eligible for automatic enrollment (those who have not previously chosen a supplier).

  • October 22, 2019: Explanatory postcard mailed to all customers

  • December 2019: Program launches and begins providing electricity supply to Medford residents and businesses.

  • December 2022: Program renews with new supplier, NextEra Energy and has newly associated product pricing
